Hi everyone
Now if you are a lover of cereal bars or just simply want something fast and accessible whilst running out the door in the morning to take the kids to school or on the way to work or even just something to have with your daily coffee there is lots of choices out there that you can have on slimming world especially as your healthy extras which is great as it means you can have something sweet without digging into your 15 syn's a day.
There are lots of choices to try from like Slimming World's delicious Hifi Bar's to Alpen Light Bar's and many more choices. So you always have options.
However i was talking to a friend who has recently joined slimming world a few weeks ago and she expressed to me that trying to budget whilst on slimming world as well as do a family shop can be a bit expensive.
We sat and spoke about different item's she could purchase that would be reasonable enough within her budget so she could always had something to eat with in plan and we got onto the subject of cereal bar's and how much she loved them but Lynn told me how she stopped buying them a long time ago just because of the price.
Now before those reading this think what! £2 a pack each time isn't too bad think about it this way all those £2 can add up unless you can get them on offer in some of the supermarkets for £1.50 or 2 packs for £3 or from the pound shop if by pure chance they have them in stock.. So really all those £2's add up especially when you only get 5 bars in a pack and you have kids and a husband who also like to have a cereal bar or two. Then before you know it the two packs of bars giving you a total of 10 bars you have bought for your journey are gone in the blink of an eye before the second day into your slimming world week has even started.
When i thought about it she was totally right. I used to buy two packs of Alpen Light Bars or Even Hifi Bar's every few weeks when it was just myself doing slimming world alone and it cost me between £3 and £3.90 but since my husband has joined me at slimming world i am now purchasing 4 boxes every two week as both of us eat them and sometimes even 5 in case my husband or i have had 2 bar as a healthy extra and perhaps an additional one which we of course have to Syn. So per month just in hifi bars or even Alpen bars I'm probably spending around upto £19.50 a month on bars and that's only me and my husband. Ouch!
So when Lynn said that to me i realised her predicament and i suggested could she not maybe buy them and hide them. I realise coming from someone who doesn't have kid's that was probably a silly suggestion to make. As she told me how her kid's can sniff out her treat's as ten paces and how her son Sean even managed to find where Mommy used to hide her treats (In the top cupboard) and how one day he was on a mission to get to her treats that he climbed up onto a chair then onto the counter top and she literally found him swinging from the upper cupboard door with her treat box on the floor because even though he has his own treats and she buys plenty to suffice his day he prefers what Mommy has. After that she tried other places obviously not in high places because of his climbing/swinging episode but he always seemed to find them.
After laughing back and forth about adventure of her son i remembered all about Aldi's version of cereal bars called Aldi Harvest Morn benefit cereal bars.
Ive tried these bar's a few times and i actually really like them and so does my husband luckily enough you can have 2 bar's as a healthy extra just like the hifi bars and Alpen light bars and if your not having them as your healthy extra they work out the same as most bar's 2 for 6 syns and the good thing about it they range from around 99p which when your on a budget can be a big help when budgeting and Slimming world.
Since i suggested these to Lynn she has been taking a extra trip to Aldi every week and been buying the bar's and is finding them such a life saver not only on her budget but they are helping her save her syns and the great thing about it shes buying them in multiples so there is always plenty if the kid's or even her husband decides they want one.
So if your looking for a cheaper choice in cereal bar's and trying to stay on budget i would give these a go.
